The Money Shot: Tom Waits for President?, Bright Eyes Shine For Obama, & Mellencamp to McCain: "Hands Off Our Country"

Candidates know coolness is in the eye of the voter (Boston.com)
MS: "If coolness was the main factor, we'd be voting for the Tom Waits/Kanye West ticket."

Mellencamp Asks McCain to Stop Using Tunes (Rolling Stone)
MS: Uplifting heartland rock must have seemed like a smart pick, but there’s just one problem: Mellencamp is an ardent Democrat. And, until recently, he supported John Edwards – who had been playing “Our Country” and “Small Town” at his rallies. Mellencamp hasn’t yet made a public response, but his reps are quietly reaching out to McCain and asking him to stop playing his tunes.

Bright Eyes, M. Ward Rally for Obama (Pitchfork)
MS: This Thursday, February 7-- not long after the Super Tuesday dust has settled-- Bright Eyes and M. Ward will take to the stage at Omaha's Slowdown to voice their support for their candidate of choice: Senator Barack Obama. This is of course not the first time Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst has sung praises of Obama; the Saddle Creek songsmith previously rocked an Iowa caucus rally back in January.
