"I think one thing that’s changed much about him is that he’s a more public artist now. He’s more about our responsibility to the world and its people – especially people who have been marginalized. The early stuff was certainly ideological, but more personal – private issues, one person trying to make it in the world. He’s more social in his development now – he sings like a grown-up. And in concert, he doesn’t do only the chestnuts and hasn’t rested on his laurels. I think that gives his later work a depth and maturity. He’s seeing the world differently – socially instead of personally."
