The Money Shot:: U2, Foo Fighters and Le Tigre Getting New Stuff Together...

The latest headlines...

U2 Hits The Studio In Dublin (Billboard)
MS: "We're going to try and break new sonic ground and deliver a masterpiece," Lanois tells Billboard.com. "The sleeves are rolled up. Bono is all charged up with a lyrical angle."

As previously reported, U2, Eno and Lanois have spent time working on new material on three prior occasions in France and Morocco, and Lanois confirms the results are prolific.

"There's so much material," he says, referring to speculation that the sessions could yield two new albums. "When you get Eno and I and those guys in the room, before lunch there's like eight things."

Foos Using Soundcheck To Work On New Songs
(Billboard)
MS: "Well, we're gonna need a break," he says. "It's fun making the music; it's when you have to go out and promote it that it's work. So we're gonna be in a weird place -- we were on this last record, too. It's like, 'We just got done touring, but we're ready to record. What do we do?' You can't record it and leave it in a vault 'cause it'll get leaked, and it feels weird to just sit and wait arbitrarily for six months. We'll probably find ourselves in the same position again, excited to record but knowing that you've got a year of touring at the end of it."

Le Tigre Members Tour Behind New Project
(Billboard)
MS: For now, the two artists only have a handful of new songs written, which will be tested on the road and released online as singles on their MySpace profile. "We've talked a lot about what we're going to do in terms of putting out new music and whether or not it makes sense for us to make a record or just put out singles," she says. "Right now I think we're just going to leak two tracks."
