The Money Shot: David Bowie will bring hot indie band Arcade Fire, English comedian Ricky Gervais, and an 87-year-old spoken-word poet to the inaugural High Line Festival, which will take place in New York in May, organizers said on Monday.

Bowie, who co-founded the event with entertainment impresarios David Binder and Josh Wood, will serve as curator for the first outing, and will help choose curators for the subsequent festivals. He previously curated the 2002 Meltdown Festival in London.

26 Songs That Are Just As Good As Short Stories (avclub.com)
MS: 1. Johnny Cash, "A Boy Named Sue"
Johnny Cash's wise-country-storyteller persona lent itself naturally to story-songs, from traditionally inspired ballads like "Legend Of John Henry's Hammer" to funny goofs like "One Piece At A Time." But one of his best was the epic saga "A Boy Named Sue." Shel Silverstein's dense, witty lyrics follow the titular character on a hunt for the deadbeat dad who gave him his awful name and abandoned him in childhood. Turns out there was method to daddy's madness, which "Sue" accepts in the end, though not to such a degree that he's willing to repeat the process with his own theoretical future kids.

Arctic Monkeys looking forward to 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' (Monsters and Critics)
MS: Domino head Laurence Bell admits the band lacks the element of surprise this time, but says he remains "so confident" the 12 new songs - many of which display a spikier, rockier edge compared to the first album - will stand up to any test.

"This album will establish them as a classic rock band of our time. It`s a huge creative leap," he says. "We don`t have hang-ups or feel any pressure. They`re pretty peerless at the moment."
